Legal Question in Social Security Law in Illinois

My husband and I divorced after 8 1/2 yrs--he is now deceased. he never remarried, never had children, and his parents are dead. I am 63 yrs old and would like to apply for his social security benefits in the future. Is there any way to do this,considering no children or other beneficiaries, as I understand that you have to have been married 10 yrs to be eligible?
