Legal Question in Tax Law in Illinois

Taxes sold due to Negligence of Mortgage Co.

I pay my taxes through the Mortgage Co. They neglected to pay my taxes and they were sold. To redeem my property I had to pay the taxes and now the Mortgage Company don't want to reimburse me. Can I sue them for my money and also for the stress they put me through.

Re: Taxes sold due to Negligence of Mortgage Co.

It seems like you might have an action against your mortgage company.

However, there is no way to give you a definite answer determining your rights, and the obligations of the mortgage company, without having an attorney review your mortgage documents, your receipts for the payment of taxes, your 1099 form from prior years indicating your tax escrow balance at the mortgage company, and those from the tax sale and redemption.

Good luck to you.
