thinking of leaving the country and living abroad . do i need to tell the goverment or do i just leave. i guess im asking for tax purposes

No, you are not required to inform any Federal agency regarding your intent to settle or reside in a foreign county. However, depending on your subsequent tax situation in a particular foreign country, you may be required to file Federal income and other taxes.
