Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

3 months ago I moved from California to Michigan. Driving through Illinois in the middle of the night I was apparently speeding and photographed by one of those automatic "mail you a ticket" things. Well, the ticket was sent to my old California address and my old roommate failed to forward it to me. By the time I knew about it, I had already missed two court dates. I called the county in Illinois and they said that they have a warrant out for my arrest. I don't have the money for big fines or lawyers. I'd gladly pay the original ticket. What do I do?

If you reregistered your vehicle in Michigan in a timely fashion, you may be able to send a copy of the registration to the prosecutor in Illinois along with an affidavit that you moved and did not get notice and that you would like to pay the ticket face value. Send the correspondence by certified mail.
