Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

please help
i was in a car accident 4 years ago i found out my grace period on my insurance was out of time,we went to bridgview court house and was going to have a trial the defendent did not show up so it was thrown out 3 years later i come to find out there was a case that i didnt know about and i have a judement against me for 7,000 dollars to american family insurance and my license is suspended to go to work i am 20 years old and go to school i also rent i dont know what to do i called the lawyer on this case and he is telling me to pay 5,000 i need help PLEASE
