Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

Chicago traffic court question:

We recently moved to Chicago and my husband got a traffic ticket for an incomplete stop at a stop sign. He was given a ticket however it states he must appear in court at a specific day and time, I am unable to pay it online. I believe this is probably because at the time he still had an out of state license (we just moved here in July). The officer told him he would be able to just pay the ticket ahead of time if he goes in person as my husband knew it would be almost impossible for him to make the court date. My husband is a surgeon and if he has an emergency case he can't leave the hospital which was the case today. I went to court for him to see if I could just pay however I couldn't but I did get a continuance granted. Now I'm worried the same thing will happen next month at his next court date. What happens if he can't make it then? Is there a way to take care of the ticket out of court?

Your husband is a surgeon and you are making his court apperancesw for him? Where are you from? Hire an attorney to handle the ticket.

I've been practicing a long, long time. I'm familiar with the Cook County Court system, and the courts in Du Page, Kane, etc. The failure of your husband to show up personally, and having you show up for him, would easily be interpreted as an arrogant attitude. If so, a Cook County judge might easily issue a warrant for his arrest. I think it might be embarrassing for him to be collected by Cook County Deputy Sheriffs from the hospital. Spend a few bucks and hire an attorney for God's sake.
