Legal Question in Traffic Law in Illinois

I got a speeding ticket after speeding up to get out of the way of an ambulance that was directly behind me, in order to find a place in traffic to safely manuver into the right lane and let the ambulance pass.

Your explanation makes common sense, but it would not be a defense to the charge of speeding. In fact, it could be argued that the law requires you to slow down and pull over when an ambulance is approaching. What I would suggest is that you hire an attorney and avoid taking a conviction for the speeding charge. In may cases we are able to arrange for a plea bargain under which the driver is placed on"Supervision" for anywhere from 60 days to six months so that there is no conviction.
