Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

There are four children in my family. My mom passed in Nov of 2015. I don't get along with my siblings and there was no will. I have not been contacted by anyone as to who gets what, etc. . Don't the lawyers have to contact each child?

What lawyers? Someone in the family has to hire a lawyer to represent the Administrator of the estate. Then, if there is a formal proceeding in the courts, the Administrator, acting with the attorney's help, has a duty to notify family members. There isn't always a need for a court proceeding. If you wish to follow up on this, you should make a list of what you believe you mom owned on the date of her death, and see an attorney in your area.
