Dad died without a will
What is the first thing that needs to happen?
Also I have his car and trying to get it transferred into my name, however I live out of State.

Call a lawyer in the community where your father died. Your next steps depend on who are your father's survivors and what kind of assets he had upon his death. An estate may have to be opened to administer his assets.
