Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

File Claim against estate in IL

My wife's grandfather and I paid for the funeral expenses to bury my wife's stepfather. I spoke with my wife's grandfather and he is ok with me requesting for a reimbursement. What forms do I need to complete in order to file a claim for my grandfather and I to be reimbursed from my father-in-law's estate.

Re: File Claim against estate in IL

If the executor of the estate is willing to pay, just send a letter with a completed Claim form and a copy of the bills and ask for payment. If the circumstances warrant, file the claim with the probate court within 6 months of publication of the notice of death and opening of the estate.

You can download the claims form from the web page of the county in which the probate is being administered.
