If my grandmother was worried that her PoA was removing funds without reason and wanted to remove his PoA, how would she do that?

Happy New Year. By law, in Illinois one who grants a power of attorney can cancel it. This should be done in writing and sent to the person being "fired" via certified mail/return receipt.

I agree with attorney Braden's response. I would add that if she fears she has been a victim of theft then she should also contact all of the institutions, banks, credit unions, brokerage firms, etc. where she has funds and make sure they know about the change.

In many cases people in your grandmother's position need help with this. Even if she has mental capacity the effort required discourages them. I hope you can help her.

As always, a consultation with a lawyer to give guideance is important. Please feel free to visit my website www.legacylaws.com and schedule an appointment.

Be well.
