Difficult to say without knowing more. If she died without a husband and had no children then you would be among her heirs. If she had no will then you would be entitled to a share along with you siblings. The parents are also heirs in Illinois if either one of them is still living.

You need to talk to a lawyer to determine what your options are. Here are the top questions that a lawyer will have: Did your sister have a Will? Did she have a spouse or any children? Was the home in a Trust of any kind? What is the approximate value of her home? What is the approximate value of all of her other possessions, excluding those that were owned jointly or have a beneficiary designation?

Feel free to call me to discuss this further. I won't charge for the phone call.
