Stepchildrens rights

My mother passed away in 1994 and left a spouse and he remarried a year later.he has been diagnoised with Lou Gehrigs disease and not expected to live long.My mother and him bought a house together and lived in the house for 15 years before she passed.He has lived in the house for 5 years with new wife. Do we have any rights toward the house or contents of the house that belonged to my mother?

It depends on how the house was titled. If the house was titled in joint tenancy, then it passed to your mother's spouse in his sole name. Assets now in his sole name will pass according to his will, or if none, by state law to his wife and children.
