Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

Hello - I have submit a letter requesting a specified amount from my trust fund my grandfather left me. I am going to buy a car. I am curious, what is the turnaround time from the time they receive my request to me receiving the check?

If the trust terms cover this, you would have to look at the trust. It probably is not that specific, in which case the likelihood is that the trustee would have to act within a reasonable period in the circumstances.

I cannot comment on the specifics in your trust, but often these trusts give a trustee or other party the discretion whether to approve certain expenditures. Have you spoken with the trustee? What has he or she said? Are the funds tied up in a way that limits how quickly they can be accessed without penalty? Were you asked to make a written request in addition to speaking with the trustee or have you never spoken to the trustee about your request?
