Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

waiting on a response

my aunt passed away leaving a will that included her neighbors and myself. The neighbors' daughter has lived in the house since my aunt passed away. I know that these neighbors talked my aunt into a will to include them but I don't have any proof. However, the will states the house should be sold and the proceeds divided between the neighbors and myself. The neighbors are the executors of the will. My aunt's other business was held in joint tenancy with me and I know they cannot touch that. They are stalling on getting this house sold because their daughter is living there rent free. There is no mortgage. I am the one paying the property taxes and with property taxes going up I want to get this house sold. I had an attorney but I hear nothing from him because he always says he is waiting to hear from their attorney. He will not hear anything because their daughter will have to come out of the house so they have stopped pursuing this will. They thought they were going to get money and the house, but found out my aunt's other business was in joint tenancy. Wha can I do to speed along this sell? They are obviously stalling as long as they can so their daughter can live there. How long can this go on?

Re: waiting on a response

I would advise you to speak with a probate attorney to determine your rights at this point, and to decide whether a probate estate should be opened to resolve your outstanding matters.

A consultation would be worth the time and money.

Good luck to you, and let me know if I can be of any assistance.
