my husband just died. what do i do first?

After taking care of the funeral, file his will with the court if he had one. Then determine what assets he had and how they are titled. If he had assets alone in his name, you will likely need to open a probate estate. Surviving spouses have special rights in estates. Consider contacting a probate attorney to assist you.
