Legal Question in Wills and Trusts in Illinois

My dad passed in May and left his girlfriend as beneficary on all his policies. My siblings and I have tried to get all of my dad's personnel belongings along with his car but have had no response. We don;t have to money to persue this in court so any suggestions you ahve about how we can get all of his things would be helpful and appreciated.

Policies, I assume, means life insurance. Those are tricky to challenge and may require you going to Court. If there was no will, the State may appoint someone to administer the estate. You, as children, can claim as much as 1/3 of your father's estate (not life insurance benefits). That 1/3 interest may allow you some leverage to collect his personal belongings.
