Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

Cut off comp because i wouldnt move to illinois

hurt jan 05 tryed to return to work lasted a month and a half. was pulled off the truck and back on workers comp. nov 05 they stopped paying med. and ttd. ins co called doctor and said they wanted me released for lite duty so i could return to illinois and continue treatment there.problem being i have never lived in il. was told i could live in motel and travel home on weekends.. from where i worked to my house is 658 miles one way. not to mention the cost of living and travel. retained a lawyer in il. and havent heard anything . he just says i should have returned to il. for lite duty.in the mean time i have gone without med. treatment and have sold everything i own to pay bills and feed family.is what happened legal. the injury was to back and left shoulder.

Were you injured in Minnesota? Generally, an Employer cannot make you move. There is usually a 60 mile radius in which you are expected to look for work. Please contact me if you have any questions.

There is no way to know whether what you are experiencing is "kosher" or not. An attorney needs to look at the records and find out. The best advice: get your lawyer to explain to you in writting what the status is and why it is so.
