Legal Question in Workers Comp in Illinois

Unemployment Rights

I recently was told my my previous employer that they were switching me to another position without any warning or choice in the matter. My previous employer stated that if I did not take the other position I am no longer employed with the company. I feel like I was basicly forced to leave the company. They also stated that I need to write them a letter with my decision to leave if I didn't take the position they offered me. Do you think that I can still quailfy for unemployment under these forced circumstances?

Re: Unemployment Rights

You can show you were forced to leave only if the change in the position they provided you was substantially different in hours, type of work and specially pay (less than you were making before). Under those circumstances you may qualify for unemployment.

I hope you refused to sign any paperwork they gave you. If they are asking you to leave, what leverage they have to make you sign the paper.

I hope this helps
