Re: Date format on the cheque

There is no specific date format on cheques as per N.I.Act. Normally, we in India follow the rule of DD/MM/Year. If for instance you follow the American system of putting the month first e.g.5/12/2008 for 12th May 2008, you cannot expect the Bank to honour it on or after 12th May but wait for the cheque to be presented on or after 5th December. For all official and routine purposes we follow only the DD/MM/year format only.
