Dear Sir / Madam,

First ascertain the reason for return of the cheque from your bank. It could be for the following reasons - 1) Insufficient funds; 2) Signature Differs; 3) Joint Signatory's authentication required or 4) Full Signature required .

If in doubt, please approach the drawer and inform him / her to confirm whether all the required signatories as appearing in the bank's record have signed on the cheque. In case of insufficient funds in drawer's A/c, request settlement in cash prior to return of cheque back to the drawer.
