Legal Question in Banking Law in India
i am a six year old customer of bhandarkar road branch, pune, of hdfc bank they are asking for renewal of kyc. they accepted my pan card as my identity proof but refused to take Gas card for address proof. they are asking to produce 5 money receipts of gas delivery alongwith the gas card. i don't think that the money receipts are required to submit alongwith the Gas card. moreover i have purchased a NEW gas connection and have misplaced the money receipts [i have refilled the gas cylinder twice only]
please tell me the factual position. is it necessary to produce 5 money receipts alongwith Gas card for address proof for kyc at any bank? other banks are not insisting even for single money receipt. are the kyc norms differently observed by the different banks ?

Dear Sir / Madam,
(Aundh, Pune, Maharashtra)
It is sufficient for you to provide a copy of your electricity, telephone or gas connection bill as valid proof of address for KYC purposes. The bank does not have the right to insist on 5 money receipts for KYC purposes. If they disagree, simply transfer your account to another bank.
