Use of company names in websites

Hello,

I am planning to start an e-business website, in which I will be using a list of company names.

Does this pose any legal problems? Do I need to take a permission for the use of company names, which would not be possible as there could be a list of almost 1000 companies.

I am using the company names in a drop down list box, for the users to select. I am not using any company logos.

If you want to make use of the names of other companies in your website, please do seek the permission from the respective companies with express consent for using the names for the purpose.The terms of use of your web and policy and disclaimer should be carefully drafted making it abundantly clear to the users regarding your liability in using thirdparty names or making any representations based on such information.
