Admissability of cases

Usually complaints to district consumer forums considering the monitory limit of compensation claimed and also type of grievances brought in to focus the cases do not involve complicated examination of witnesses and records. In numerous cases after lapse of minimum 2 years of admission the case comes for final hearing after which an order is pronounced either in favor or against the complaint.

Is a complainant entitled for a chamber meeting of the Presiding officer of the forum and brief him on the case he intends bringing before the court and seek to know whether the complaint is worth lodging. Admissibility

Re: Admissability of cases

Where is the need and rationale for a chamber meeting? Why should the Presiding officer grant it? The Act provides that the DF will fix a date within 21 days where the complainant would convince the court about its admissibility, following which the notice will be issued to the OP. Why should all this not be held in open court?

The complainant may not be entitled to a chamber hearing / meeting with the Presiding Officer of the forum; You may need to decide whether you want or do not want to file your case. You may seek necessary guidance from a lawyer about maintainability of your complaint.
