Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Check bounce

When i went to market i found my purse missing. In my purse i carrying the two empty bank cheques. On the same day i lodged a complaint in police station and the next day i intimated to the banking officials.Later in 10 days the ploce gave me an endorsement also for the lost cheques.Butin the next month i recieve an legal notice from the lawyer. When i open and see i shocking coz some persons in my town put an amount of 6lakh s and 50 thousand rupees only but bounced.Even though i intimated to the bank officials and i have taken recieved copy fom my bank to stop payment for the empty cheques the manager failed to report me.

Now what is my position and how can i answer the reply for that notice. BUT THE PEOPLE WHO GAVE NOTICE TO ME HARRASING ME AND BLACKMAILING ME .BUT I AM AFRAID TO GO FOR POLICE COZ I AM GOING TO ABROAD ON FEBRUARY. IS THERE ANY CHANCE TO GET RID FROM THEM

Re: Check bounce

I had answered this question yesterday only. You have now added the last three sentences in your previous statement.

I do not see any point about the 'harrassing and blackmailing' issues. And there is no hassle in your going abroad if you report the matter to police.

Any way, you may reply to the notice denying your liability; and may sent a complaint to the police by post about miseuse of the stolen cheques.

You have a strong case against the payees because you had already reported loss of cheques to the police. The chain will be completed if you now inform the police who used the cheques.
