Legal Question in Criminal Law in India

Dear Sir/Madam,
I was working in a MNC. Based on that, i've been offered a personal loan from HDFC bank. Since, i lost my job i was unable to honour 4 EMI cheques each Rs. 7,729/. from Aug '12. Bankers has filed a case against me u/s 138 n.i. by using one cheque leaf. I've received the complaint copy. They've filed the case withing one month of legal notice. I've been questioned on 05.04.13. Since, i'm unable to pay the lawer fees i've not appointed a advocate in this case. Still they're having three bounced cheques in their hand.
If i get time for 3 months and if they accepted by paying lesser amount i'm ready to pay. At present i'm doing day today work and earning Rs. 5,000/- pm. Kindly advice me how do i face the questions.
Kindly do the needful in this regard.
