Legal Question in Family Law in India

change of personal name

How can I change my name? Will it be different if only surname is to be added to the name? What legal formalities are to be taken for both of these? If I change my name what problems will I have to face in my day to day acts/transactions?

Re: change of personal name

You can change your name / surname by making an affidavit to that effect and have it sworn before a first class magistrate, and having the fact published in a local newspaper.

No problems as such may be faced in the day to day activities; however, you may have to have the records (name) changed in banks etc.
