sir,

I am a govt emloyee and married since 2 years.Relations between wife and self not good due to her stubborn and dominating attitude. she insults me , my parents and is threatening to file dowry , harrasment cases against us.pl advice me that

(a) if i record her various ommissions and insults and the fact that we did not demand dowry/only gifts were given voluntarily by her parents and also the falsehood in her allegations and produce before the police before she files a police complaint under 498a etc against us, will police take any action against us after seeing all the recordings that i have?pl also tell me how important/effective will be the recorded evidence?

(b) pl also suggest good reputable lawyer in chandigarh & his fees

you may record all the evidence possible; if not helpful, it will surely not be harmful to you in any manner.

the best insulation against 406 is to return all her property, gifts, cash etc, received till date; even if these were given to you voluntarily; because it constitute her 'istridhan' and she is entitled to its exclusive use and possession more particularly when there is a dispute.

practically, there is hardly any insulation against 498-A except that you need to separate soonest possible after settling her dues amicably.
