Legal Question in Family Law in India

My wife has filed a Divorce petition under section 13A of HMA. She has parted with me soon after the birth of our only daughter, 5 years ago and since then residing with her parents. She has also refused to come back and does not reply to phone calls or letters. In the petition, she has accused me for cruelty, neglect etc. I don't want a divorce, but ready for it in case she is no way willing to come back. My questions are:

1. How shall I proceed with the case?

2. How can I ensure no exorbitant alimony? [ I wish to save something for my Daughter's future]

3. How to prevent an ugly event such as 498A case (or similar)?
