Legal Question in Civil Litigation in India

A trust was formed. The trust decided to set up a college. Accordingly land was procured. Trustees contributed towards the seed money. Bank loan was applied for. One Trust member resigned at the last moment. The project was shelved for this reason only. The member who resigned is asking refund of his contribution. The Trust does not have enough money as it was invested in Land, Building Plan, etc. Is it obligatory to refund the money contributed by the Trustee?
