civil marriage

Hello sir/madam

I'd be grateful if you could tell me what documents a foreign citizen should produce to legally wed an indian citizen?

Re: civil marriage

It depends as to where the marriage is to take place. In any case, your passport should be sufficient.

Re: civil marriage

In case of first marriage for both bride and the groom, the following would do the needful:

1.Birth Certificate

2. Copy of Passport for the nationality.

3. Proof of residence (to determine jurisdiction of the marrige officer)

4. In case of recent arrival in India, then a certificate from the Police Station verifying the address.

If marriage is yet to be performed, then 30 days public notice is required. But, if the purpose is to register a marriage after the ceremony at a temple etc. then a Gazetted Officer to vouch for the marriage is required before the marriage officer.

In case of any other question, call or write

If for either spouse it is second marriage, then the decree of divorce from the court of law or death certificate as the case may be.
