Nomination and inheritance are two separate and independent legal situations.

The nominee will be entitled to receive the money from the Insurance Policy on behalf of your legal heirs.

You may nominate anybody but the nominee will not inherit or become a legal heir and may not be entitled to use the money for his benefit unless he/she is also the legal heir

The nominee will need to deliver the money to the legal heir/s.

If you want the nominee and the legal heir to be one and same person, you may also want to execute a will in favour of the nominee.
