Legal Question in Employment Law in India

Bonded labor

Is bonded labor is legal? I had been working past three and half years in Private concern. After I Completed 3 years they implement the bond with me. At the time there is no way to continue the job without bonding, so under the management compulsion I and my father signed in the Rs 20/- bond paper. After the bond I Worked for 8 months, then I got a likable job in Chennai. So I resigned that previous job without bond payment. Now they send a lawyer notice to me. Now what I can do? My economical status is not able to pay that bond amount Rs 50,000/-. Please give your valuable suggestions. Thank You.

Re: Bonded labor

i think you are confused with the term bonded labour and executing a security bond before employment. they are two different things! security bond is absolutely legal. Bounded labour - without pay or any allowance etc., is illegal.

Re: Bonded labor

Please note that bonded labour is absolutely abolished in our nation, and there is punishment against enforcement of bonded labour. So do not worry about this. Consult local advocate, and reply to the notice send by your employer
