Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in India

Hi, I entered into a rent agreement as a tenant for 11 months. This is the last month of the lease period and we both agreed not to renew the contract. Landlord is asking for full month increased rent(10% inclrease) even if I stay a day longer than the lease period. My stand is that if I stay a few days longer then rent should be on pro-rata basis of the old rent only. There is no mention of this situation in the lease contract. Please guide.

in case the lease is not renewed, the rent may be on pro rata basis unless there is a clause in the lease deed mentioning the enhanced rent.

you can't stay any longer than the period specified in the agreement. Otherwise it will be assumed as the agreement is renewed with new terms.

your over stay doesn't mean renewal of new lease..

but still over stay is not suggested ...

and if landlord is not ready to this settlement kindly avoid your over stay...
