Legal Question in Real Estate Law in India

Sir,

My husband died 16 years ago and I along with my three children is living with my father in law. My husband was the only son of my father in law but he has four daughters(all married). After 16 years I have been told by his four daughters that I and my children donot have any right to the property of my father-in-law.

Can you please guide me in this regard. Have my children any right to the property of their grandfather who is still alive or can he simply throw us out at any time.

your children certainly have got a right along with you. the property needs to be divided into five parts after the death of your father in law and in case mother in law is alive, then six parts. you have all the right to stay in the shared household and ask your father in law to intervene.

I am sorry. If the property is self acquired property of your father in law, he may dispose it off according to his choice. he may also write his WILL for the property. But if the property is inherited then you and your children have a right in the property
