Legal Question in Sexual Harassment in India

Hello sir,

Am from india, mumbai. Recently i visited a hotel in chennai with my family. It was a decent enough hotel. I never suspected of any cams in hotel room. After 2 days, i got a call from a stranger that they had recorded our private moments and even installed cams in bathroom and recorded while bathing.

I was really shocked. I didnt believe at first. But i received a letter to my home address with a CD enclosed in it. They want me to pay some money to get the original clippings. I really dont know what to do.

Approaching the police may make this issue public and i dont want my wife to suffer from that humiliation. Even if i pay them, there is no guarantee that they will give the master copy to me.

Can i sue the hotel?? What legal actions can i take apart from consulting police? Can i stop them from posting the videos over internet?

You have no option but to approach police. Normally the Police will have social service cell - and they behave responsibly and do not divulge the identity to press. Press also generally behave responsibly. This is invasion of privacy and you can take steps.

If you need a lawyer, you shall need a local lawyer from Chennai
