Legal Question in Business Law in Indiana

Personal Property bought under LLC with name, but not real name

My husband and I have bought a

piece of property under an LLC's

name. The LLC's name is correct, but

I am the manager for the LLC. My

husband demanded that my name be

my middle name along with my

maiden name so - in his words- ''No

one would recognize my name''. I

have never signed my name this

way. My name on my SS card is my

first name, middle intial, maiden

name and married name. Is this legal

to do this?

Re: Personal Property bought under LLC with name, but not real name

Your question seems to be whether buying land under an LLC's name where your personal name appears differently from what you commonly use is legal. If the LLC purchased the land, then its name is the only one that matters. If you signed as a guarantor to the purchaser in your personal capacity and not as a member of the LLC, the issue of legality only arises if your LLC breaches the sales contract. Then the seller may come after you, you could try to raise the issue that it was not really you that signed the contract and you would lose. The name comes close enough to identifying you and you are you.
