Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Collection Question

Hi. Back in august my 2 roommates left the apartment taking a majority of their stuff. I payed half the rent, wrote a letter and handed in the keys. I was not able to continue paying the lease on my own. I then talked to the attorney and owe 3,000 dollars. I have no source of income other than my disability check. I have a court hearing coming up and for some reason my name is the only one on it. I called and they said they have no information of the other 2 being in a hearing. My name and one other was on the lease. I am not sure what I can do from here. I do know that I made contact with the attorney and they did not. Should I be the only one to pay? Also how does it stand when I have no way to pay as I only recieve disability?

Re: Collection Question

1. Because your name is on the lease agreement, you are liable for the whole.

2. You should file a third party claim, naming the other two as also being liable on the $3000. Get a continuance of the hearing so you will have time to get them served with a summons.

Do that ASAP.
