collections department

i was a minor and recieved medical treatment, now that im over eighteen i have received a letter from a collections agency about a past due medical bill, I am wondering if I am liable to pay this bill since i was a minor at the time of service, it has even showed up on my credit record, i have called and told them Im not responsible i was just a kid but they keep harrassing me

Write the collections agency a letter, stating the facts that you were a minor when the services were performed and were not emancipated, therefore you do not owe the money, and if they ever bother you again about the case, you will sue them under the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, and send the letter by certified mail, and carefully keep a copy of the letter and your certified mail return receipt.
