Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Credit card transaction history

I have just paid off an Emerge credit card via a lawyers office as there was a judgement against me. The day that I called to make the final payment, I was told that I now owe on another credit card. (The card now owed on (FNANB) was bought out by the credit card that I just paid off.) I asked the attorney/collection agency for a transaction history but they said they couldn't supply it. All they would supply me with was the the original account number. I have not heard from the latest credit card company for 5 years and honestly don't think that I owe them the $1900 that they are telling me. How can I get them to send me the transaction/payment history?

The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act says that if you send a written request for verification of the debt that this must be provided to you. It must be in writing. One thing, it does not seem that the attorney has sent you anything in writing regarding this debt or otherwise contacted you, and you should just wait to see if they do send you a collections letter.
