Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Credit collection agency calls

A credit collection agency calls our home 2 and 3 times a day, including evenings and Saturdays. Now we check caller ID and do not answer, but they leave canned messages each time. When I spoke with a lady from the agency, I asked her to provide further written info regarding this bill, as I was only told it was for an unpaid phone bill from years ago, and I did not recall such a bill. To date, the agency has refused to provide any written verification in regard to this debt. Do we have any recourse to stop this continuing harrassment? Thank you for your assistance in this matter.

Re: Credit collection agency calls

You must make the request in writing and not verbally. You do not say whether they have communicated to you in writing. You have a time limit to make your written request based upon when they send a written collection effort.
