Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Hello,

I currently have 2 collection companies reporting the same medical debt on my credit report. One for 1896 and the other 977. I'm being sued by the collection company wanting 1896. Can I settle with the collection company wanting 977 and when I go to court they have to dismiss it bc the original debt has been satisfied? If No, then what is the best course of action?

No. You would have to have this formally resolved by a judge or by an agreement between the two collection companies in writing and probably involving the medical creditor too.
