mechanics lien laws

If a property has a mechanics lien, and the property is under a life estate who is responsible for payment of the mechanics lien. the one with the life estate or the remainder. The mechanics lien is the result of enviromental clean up after a bloody death of a life estate holder that gave a life estate to her son.

Interesting question, but a little confused by the life estate holder giving life estate to son. A life estate holder cannot give a life estate. Or I have never seen it. Without more and clearer facts, I have to say that a life estate could be held responsible for there being a mechanic's lien but the hold er of the mechanic's lien could foreclose against the life estate holder or the remaindermen (those who get the land after the life estate).
