Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

I have spent a year trying to resolve an old credit debt with Cavalry. I've spent nearly $2000 plus an additional $4000 my attorney is holding for settlement with no resolve or resolution in sight. I don't know if I should file a complaint on them or if my attorney is taking advantage. I haven't heard from him in over two months except for his monthly bill. They are reporting on the same debt twice on my credit report for completely different amounts...one of which is over $12,000 and was not mine. While I'm trying to resolve, my credit continues to deteriorate.
