Legal Question in Credit and Debt Law in Indiana

Utility bill

I lived in some apartments, when I moved out. When I moved out, they said I owe a utility bill. So I called them and then they said that I don't owe a bill. They sent me my deposit. 2.5 yrs. later they say I owe for the bill. In the paper work they never mention the fact that they already came me my deposit. They mention that the balance I owe is after my security deposit was deducted. As if they had not sent me a check before. Do you think I should go before a judge and dispute this?
