Possible harrassment

Is it illegal or criminal to write a text message and send it, if it pertains something negative about someone else, such as that they are a hoe, and if she hadn't been sleeping around then she could have picked up the person she was suppose to and then they wouldn't have been killed in a car accident? I am asking because this happened to my friend and they took a pic of the grave site and stated keep your mean safe, dont let this hoe around your men, if she wouldn't have been a hoe he would still be alive. Her parents want to press charges on the person who sent it, and asked me to release my phone records of who sent it to me. Because who sent it to me is also an acquaintance I don't want to be put in the middle.

If you don't want to be in the middle, then it doesn't matter to you whether the state prosecutes this person for harrassment or not. If you get a subpoena from the state for this record, then you should cooperate with it. Until then, tell everyone that you are staying out of this dispute.
