Re: MIsdeamer

A misdemeanor is a 'lesser' criminal act. (As opposed to a felony crime.) At common law, a misdemeanor was any crime punishable by no greater than one year. In modern times here in Pennsylvania, misdemeanors are broken up into three degrees.

A misdemeanor of the first degree is punishable by up to five years. A second degree misdemeanor is punishable up to two years, and a third degree punishable by up to one year.
