public intoxication in a car

can you be arrested for public intoxication in indiana for being a passenger in a car that was pulled over. The driver of the vehicle was arrested for dui. I as the passenger submitted to a breathalyer and was then arrest for public intoxication. I thought p.i. occurred after leaving a bar intoxicated?

Yes you can be. A car is consider to be in a public place.
