Child Visitation/Contempt

If I called the ABA and asked for a referal for someone to help my brother in his ongoing divorce/visitation mess... would they help me find an aggressive attorney? My brother has representation, but I just don't think he's getting much help. He pays his child support without fail. His wife is in contempt for not sending a child for visitation. This has been going on for over a year, yet it just doesn't seem an issue. I really do believe that there is such a thing as Alex B. says... there is 'parental alienation' . Can he get a second opinion by another lawyer? I mean no disrespect, but I can't help but to feel as if he needs an attorney who'll be like a junk yard dog and not like a beagle.

No, the ABA does not do attorney referrals.

Yes, he can get a second opinion.

You may not be aware that the attorney must follow what the client wants and this may be what your brother wants. If the wife is in contempt for support and the judge will not throw her in jail and she is not working, there is nothing any attorney can do to get child support. You do not say what the problem is that keeps the divorce from being final. Again, an attorney with a more aggressive approach may just no further a bit faster. You might talk to brother before and understand what is going on in his case.

First of all, your brother is the one who should decide whether he is unhappy with his attorney. Secondly, the ABA does not provide referrals. However, many local bar associations do. You might also do a search on the net.

Of course he can get a second opinion. Parental Alienation is not something new. However, you should be aware that it is a complex issue, usually requiring an experts opinon. Alex B may be able to afford one, most people can not.
