Legal Question in Family Law in Indiana

i want to get a divorce but i need to ask a question before i file i have two stepchildren now one of them i was trying to adopt and give my last name too because her father wasnt in her life we never appeared in front of a judge for the legal adoption but i signed her birth certificate and im not the biological father so what can i do

I suggest that you put off the divorce and go through with a legal adoption as you have no rights based on the information provided.

I suggest that you complete the adoption before you file for divorce. Signing the birth certificate means aboslutely nothing. It does not create any legal rights.
